Hey people,
We’re really excited to tell you about our updated “What’s New” feature. It lets you see all the cool stuff that your friends have been sharing and commenting on as well as things happening in your groups.
You can see your “What’s New” by clicking here. You can also get to it by clicking the “View All” link in the “What’s New” section of your home page.
The “What’s New” feature really speaks for itself but here are some of it’s key components:
- View by playlists, music, videos, etc.
- Watch new videos directly on the page
- View all recent forum activity in one click
So check it out and let us know what you think.
we’re all pretty psyched here at imeem today. we’re announcing that imeem has partnered with snocap to enable an ad-supported business model around all the social music activity in our community.
why is this cool_important_significant? well, the partnership lets us make sure that we’re keeping users happy and content owners (and artists) happy.
as the community has grown on imeem, we’ve been working hard on ways to improve how users find and express themselves with each other through their musical, artistic, and pop-cultural tastes. at the same time, we’ve also been working hard to create a reliable system for content owners and artists to control the availability of their content and also make money off of it.
IMHO, the best way to accomplish that is to offer a share of our online ad revenue to content owners, while also making sure that users can buy downloads of music or video they discover through others on imeem. snocap’s id system and content registry, which btw includes almost all of the major and indie label music out there, allows us to do just that.
So after several months of working on this Snocap-enabled system, we are excited to get the word out today and get more labels and artists involved on imeem!
One of my favorite things on imeem is being able to create a playlist of any of the songs on the site so that all through the work day I can listen to my favorite tunes. Not too long ago the ability to “Feature” a playlist on your profile was added to show of their latest mixes. Last night we added the ability to feature any playlist on group profiles as well. This option is only available if you have created groups yourself, otherwise it works just like it always has in the past.
If you are unfamiliar with how to feature a playlist, here’s how:
1) Find a playlist you like on imeem (it can even be your own).
2) Click the Feature This Playlist link, located below the playlist:

3) If you have created groups on imeem a dialog will pop up asking you where you would like to put the playlist, otherwise, you’re done!
Enjoy!
